Speech and Language Therapy

I work as a speech and language therapist in the NHS

Currently, I work for Oxford University Hospital trust at John Radcliffe Hospital. I am a team leader and a band 7 speech and language therapist for the early supported discharge (ESD) stroke team. I provide assessment and rehabilitation for people who have recently been discharged from hospital following a cerebrovascular accident (CVA).

I am in the process of registering as an independent speech and language therapist. If you would like to discuss therapy options with me, please email me.

I have previously worked in acute stroke and rehabilitation services at Oxfordshire Stroke Rehabilitation Unit (OSRU) in Abingdon and at the Lewin Stroke Unit at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

I have held general medical positions at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford and at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow. My roles focused on assessment and intervention for acquired and progressive dysphagia.

I have also worked for community services across mid-Essex, supporting people with progressive and acquired neurological disorders.

Aphasia

I have a special interest in acquired language impairment (aphasia) and have experience delivering a range of psycholinguistic, language and cognitive assessments. I work with people who have aphasia to support them to develop skills and strategies to manage their impairments and improve their ability to speak, read and write.

I completed a PhD in Psychology in 2020 which focused on language and word processing in aphasia.

Dysarthria and Dyspraxia

I regularly work with people who have speech production difficulties. I support people to use strategies to enhance the clarity of their speech and articulation and support the carry over of these strategies into daily communication environments.

Dysphagia

I deliver assessment of swallowing impairment and advise on safe consistencies and recommendations in line with the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI). I work with people to rehabilitate their swallow function following neurological damage.

I completed a post-graduate qualification in dysphagia management at De Montfort University in 2015.

I qualified as a speech and language therapist in 2012, receiving a first class honours BSc degree in Psychology and Speech Pathology from Manchester Metropolitan University Since then I have been registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
